STD Testing in Bang Tao
Something happened on a night out and you have been turning it over ever since, or a symptom has appeared that you would rather not think about. Either way the useful thing is a test, not another week of searching the internet at 2am. STD testing in Bang Tao is private, quick, and does not involve explaining yourself to anyone beyond the doctor.
What we test for

Depending on the exposure, testing may use blood, a urine sample, or a swab. The doctor will tell you which is needed rather than running everything by default.
Timing — the part people get wrong
Testing too early gives a negative result that means nothing, and that false reassurance is the most common problem we see. Each infection has a window period before it becomes detectable:
- HIV: a fourth-generation test is reliable from about 4 weeks, and conclusive at 12 weeks
- Chlamydia and gonorrhoea: about 1 to 2 weeks
- Syphilis: 3 to 6 weeks
- Hepatitis B and C: 6 weeks to 3 months
If the exposure was very recent, we will still test, but we will tell you clearly what that result can and cannot rule out, and when to repeat it.
If the exposure was within 72 hours
This changes the priority completely. HIV can often be prevented after exposure with PEP, a course of medication that has to start within 72 hours and works best within the first 24.
Do not wait for a test result to decide. If there is a real risk — a condom failure with an unknown partner, or any assault — come in immediately and ask about PEP and PrEP. The clock is the thing that matters.
Symptoms worth getting checked
Many sexually transmitted infections cause nothing at all, which is exactly why screening exists. When there are symptoms, the common ones are burning on passing urine, unusual discharge, sores or ulcers, itching, unexplained rash, or pain in the lower abdomen or testicles.
Some of these have other causes. Burning on urination is often a urinary tract infection, and discharge is frequently a yeast infection. Testing sorts out which, and treating the wrong one wastes days.
Privacy and results
Results are given to you directly and to nobody else. Nothing is reported to your hotel, your employer, your travel companion or your embassy. You can use a first name at reception if you prefer.
Rapid tests give an answer during the visit. Laboratory tests come back within one to three days and we can send the result by message rather than asking you to return. If anything is positive, treatment usually starts the same day, and most bacterial infections are cured with a single course.
Frequently asked questions
How much does STD testing cost?
It depends on how many infections are included. A single rapid test is inexpensive; a full screen covering everything costs more. You are given the price per test and for the panel before anything is taken.
How fast are the results?
Rapid HIV and syphilis results come back within about twenty minutes. Chlamydia, gonorrhoea and hepatitis are laboratory tests, usually one to three days.
Will anyone find out?
No. Results go only to you. We do not contact hotels, insurers or anyone else, and there is no reporting to your home country.
Can I be tested at my hotel?
Yes. A doctor hotel visit can take samples in your room across Bang Tao, Laguna and Layan, which many people prefer for privacy.
Is it too soon to test?
