What a standard check includes

Come in the morning, and fast beforehand

What a check does and does not find
A blood panel is good at picking up diabetes, high cholesterol, anaemia, thyroid problems, liver strain and reduced kidney function. Those are common, silent, and worth catching early.
It is not a cancer screen. It will not detect most cancers, and treating a normal panel as an all-clear for everything is the mistake to avoid. Screening for bowel, breast, cervical and prostate cancer is separate, age-based, and something we can advise on and refer for.

We see a particular pattern in people who have lived here a while: raised liver enzymes, high triglycerides and creeping blood pressure. Life here makes it easy — drinking is social and constant, the heat discourages exercise, and portions are cheap.
Raised liver enzymes are not a disaster and they are a signal worth respecting. They frequently improve within weeks of cutting back, and a repeat test three months later shows whether things are moving the right way.
Getting the results, and what happens next
Most results are ready the same day, with anything specialised following in one to three days. You get a printed copy with the reference ranges alongside your numbers, and the doctor goes through what each one means.
